Window security?

The majority of burglaries begin with entry through a window at the back of the house where it is harder for their intrusion to be witnessed! Windows that are already partially open can be eased open further or the glass in any closed window can be smashed for easy entry. After doing this the burglar can then reach in and release the catch. To try to prevent this from happening you should endeavour to use the following:
  • A locking fastener (product code: JSS1234 or 1374) used on outward opening windows. The fastener is fitted to the side of the opening window and the wedge or keep is fitted to the frame. The fastener is locked and released by use of a key.
  • A locking stay(product code: 1828/1901L) used on outward opening windows. The stay is fixed to the bottom of the opening window and the pins are fitted to the frame. The stay fits over the pins and is locked and released by use of a key.
  • Alternatively non-locking stays and fasteners can be used with the addition of a separate key operated lock(product code: J726-lock/ J727-key). The lock should be fitted on the window frame opposite the hinges.
